Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms

l-r: Audacious, Shameless, Elusive, Complex, Unapologetic

l-r: Striking, Mischievous, Standout, Sultry

*Drum roll please* They're here! I literally can't even tell you how long I've waited for these babies to be available in Australia, even though I was totally impatient and bought them online instead. I bought a whopping 9 shades off of All Cosmetics Wholesale for $6.99 each, opposed to $17.95 each over here (although Priceline currently have a buy one get one free offer). I'm completely in love with them and am impatiently awaiting the arrival of four of the lacquer shades which I ordered online from Priceline. Anyway, here are my thoughts!

The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms are the next lot of crayon releases from Revlon following the original Colorburst Balms. While there were a few pretty shades, I can't say I was overly keen on the originals. The scent definitely wasn't a huge favourite of mine and I just thought a lot of the colours were a bit hard to wear. However I can say that I'm definitely impressed with the matte versions of these. The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms have an extremely creamy matte texture and sit very comfortably on the lips. In my personal opinion, I do find these to be more of a satin finish with a very slight matte texture, which I do really like. This means they're not drying at all and still have a slight sheen to them.

The colour payoff is literally insane. They are so pigmented, both in swatches and on the lips, however they can be worn slightly sheer. To get a slightly sheer colour, I first applied lip balm and then with a light hand applied one of these, which gave a gorgeous flush of colour. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I think they've altered the fragrance a bit. There's still a distinct peppermint scent, but it seems less 'in your face' than the original balms. I really, really love all of these but my favourites of the range are definitely Shameless, Striking, Sultry and Standout (I must have a thing for the letter 'S').

Shades (l-r in swatches)
Audacious- bright coral orange
Shameless- deep, dark purple
Elusive- blue toned pink
Complex- peachy caramel nude
Unapologetic- bright coral pink
Striking- neutral cherry red
Mischievous- muted light orange
Standout- deep berry red
Sultry- muted brown toned plum

Overall I'm really impressed with these and can't wait to try the lacquer balms! I'd definitely recommend trying some of these or at least swatching them because they really are lovely!

Have you tried the Revlon Matte Balms? What are your favourite shades?

  2. Elusive and Sultry are my favorite shades! I'm a huge fan of solid pigmentation but I don't touch anything that's matte for the lips because my lips are always on the verge of dry!

  10. Great swatches! I got the shade elusive and don't really like the look of it on me. This may help me to figure out what might suit me. :)

  11. Lovely post - I managed to pick up Audacious and Complex in the BOGOF offer. I agree that while the originals seemed nice, I was never overly compelled to purchase any. I really love the matte ones I have and am trying to restrain myself from buying more!

  14. I can't wear mattes because they make my lips look super parched but the pigmentation of these balms look crazy! I definitely didn't expect that.
